Dosage Dosage must be individualized. Diamicron 2 tab daily in divided dose. Diamicron MR 30-120 mg once daily at breakfast, depending on response, including elderly or those w/ mild to moderate renal insufficiency.

Overdosage View Diamicron overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.
Administration Should be taken with food (Take w/ main meals. MR tab: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.).
Contraindications Hypersensitivity to sulfonylureas, sulfonamides. Type 1 diabetes, diabetic pre-coma & coma, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic insufficiency, co-administration w/ miconazole. Lactation.

Special Precautions Hepatic &/or renal impairment. Hypoglycemia may occur w/ reduced dietary intake or too high doses, after considerable or prolonged exertions, after consumption of alcohol. Pregnancy.

Adverse Drug Reactions Nausea, headache, GI disturbances, hypoglycemia, skin reactions.

Drug Interactions Increased hypoglycemic effect w/ miconazole, phenylbutazone, alcohol, other antidiabetic agents, β-blockers, fluconazole, ACE inhibitors, H2-receptor antagonists, MAOIs, sulfonamides, NSAIDs. Blood glucose levels may be increased by danazol, chlorpromazine, glucocorticoids & IV ritodrine, salbutamol, terbutaline. May potentiate effect of anticoagulants. Diuretics.
