Indications |
Parenteral nutrition, prophylaxis & treatment of protein deficiency. |

Dosage |
1-2 g of amino acids/kg body wt/day by IV infusion. |

Contraindications |
Life-threatening unstable circulation (shock), cellular hypoxia or acidosis. Soln should not be given to newborns or infants up to completed 2nd yr as nutrients do not meet the special paed requirement. |

Special Precautions |
Disorders of amino acid metabolism, electrolyte & fluid imbalances in hyperhydration, hyperkalaemia, hyponatraemia. Hepatic & renal insufficiency. Need to include regular checks of fluid balance & serum electrolytes. |
