Effects of this medicine
This medicine increases respiratory volume by selectively acting on the respiratory center through peripheral chemoreceptors (carotid body).
It is usually used for respiratory depression and delayed awakening under anesthesia and poisoning caused by central nervous system depressants, and for differential diagnosis of prolonged apnea.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
If you have epilepsy or convulsion.
If you have decreased ventilatory capacity and need assistance with a respirator.
If you have hypertension, cerebrovascular disorder, heart disease, cerebral edema, bronchospasm, hyperthyroidism, gastric ulcer or upper airway obstruction.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include increased blood pressure, excitation, nausea/vomiting and tachycardia. If any of these symptoms occurs, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse effects indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
