Riluzole |
Indications |
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Riluzole extends survival &/or time to tracheostomy. |
Dosage |
50 mg every 12 hr. |
Administration |
Should be taken on an empty stomach (Take on an empty stomach at least 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals.). |
Special Precautions |
Active hepatic disease. Renal insufficiency. Pregnancy, lactation. Monitor serum ALT levels. |
Adverse Drug Reactions |
Asthenia, nausea, headache, somnolence, dizziness, decreased lung function, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, pneumonia, vertigo, anorexia.

Category C: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the foetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women or studies in women and animals are not available.
