Dosage |
Overdose of folic acid antagonists IV infusion Up to 75 mg in 12 hr, then 12 mg IM 6 hrly for 4 doses. Megaloblastic anemia IM ≤1 mg daily. Folinic acid rescue Begin w/in 24 hr of methotrexate administration. Up to 120 mg have been given over 12-24 hr IM or 15 mg orally, 6 hrly for the next 48 hr. W/ lower doses of methotrexate, 15 mg folinic acid orally 6 hrly for 48-72 hr may be sufficient. |

Contraindications |
Pernicious anemia or other megaloblastic anemias where vit B12 is deficient. |

Allergic sensitization; pyrexia after inj.
