Effects of this medicine
This medicine works on the pancreas and stimulates insulin secretion in order to lower the blood glucose (sugar in the blood).
It is usually used to treat non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (maturity-onset type diabetes). |
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor/pharmacist

If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicine.
If you are in a state of ketosis (hyperventilation, loss of consciousness, shaky limbs, etc.), in a diabetic coma/precoma, or in perioperative period.
If you are a patient with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, hepatopathy, renal damage, infection, or digestive trouble.
If you are injured.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you are using any other prescription or nonprescription (OTC) medicine. (It is important to reduce the risk of drug interactions.)

Dosage regimen (proper use of this medicine)

General dosage regimen: For adults, start with 2 tablets (40mg of the active ingredient) in 1-2 divided doses a day (in the morning or both in the morning and in the evening), before or after meal. The maintenance dose is 2-6 tablets (40-120mg) a day, and the maximum dose is 8 tablets (160mg) a day. Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor/pharmacist.

Missed dose: Skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose: If you took too much of this medicine (more than ordered), check with your doctor/pharmacist.

Others: Do not stop taking this medicine without the instructions of your doctor.

Precautions while using this medicine

This medicine may cause you to have hypoglycemic symptoms (feeling of weariness, strong hungry feeling, cold sweat, palpitation, shaky limbs, decreased consciousness, etc.). Do not drive a car, work at heights, or operate dangerous machinery while taking it. If you have hypoglycemic symptoms without consciousness disorder, take sugar. If you take an α-glucosidase inhibitor (acarbose, voglibose, miglitol) with this medicine, take glucose. In addition, if you feel groggy, contact your doctor.

Follow your instructed dietary/exercise therapy.Please note that skipping/delaying a meal, excessive drinking of alcohol, vigorous exercise, diarrhea, or vomiting may cause hypoglycemic symptoms easily.

Side effects of this medicine

feeling of weariness, severe hungry feeling, sweating[hypoglycemia]

sore throat, headache, high fever with chills or shiver[agranulocytosis]

generalized fatigability, loss of appetite, yellowness in the skin and the conjunctiva[liver dysfunction, jaundice]
Other side effects not listed here may occur. Check with your doctor/pharmacist if you have any worrisome symptom. |
Storage and other information

Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
