Effects of this medicine

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

• If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

• If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

• [Adults]
  Herpes simplex : In general, for adults, take 1 packet (200mg of the active ingredient) at a time, 5 times a day.
  Onset suppression of herpesvirus infection (herpes simplex) caused by hematopoietic stem cell transplantation : In general, for adults, take 1 packet (200mg of the active ingredient) at a time, 5 times a day from 7 days prior to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation to 35 days after transplantation throughout.
  Herpes zoster : In general, for adults, take 4 packets (800mg of the active ingredient) at a time, 5 times a day.
  [Children]
  Herpes simplex : In general, for children, take 20mg/kg of the active ingredient at a time, 4 times a day. DO NOT exceed the maximum dosage, 1 packet (200mg) at a time.
  Onset suppression of herpesvirus infection (herpes simplex) caused by hematopoietic stem cell transplantation : In general, for children, take 20mg/kg of the active ingredient at a time, 4 times a day from 7 days prior to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation to 35 days after transplantation throughout. DO NOT exceed the maximum dosage, 1 packet (200mg) at a time.
  Herpes zoster : In general, for children, take 20mg/kg of the active ingredient at a time, 4 times a day. DO NOT exceed the maximum dosage, 4 packets (800mg) at a time.
  Recurrence suppression of genital herpes : In general, for children, take 20mg/kg of the active ingredient at a time, 4 times a day. DO NOT exceed the maximum dosage, 1 packet (200mg) at a time.
  The dosage may be adjusted according to disease, age and symptoms of the patient in any case. This preparation contains 200mg of the active ingredient in a packet. Strictly follow the instructions.
• DO NOT take this medicine besides oral administration. Take this medicine immediately after opening the packet and discard the liquid left in the packet.
• Open the packet and take the contents only.
• Read the instruction, <患者さんへ (For the patients) >, about the way to open the packet (This instruction is written only in Japanese) .

• If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.

• If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

• Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

• Take larger amount of water than usual. However, if you are under fluid restriction, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
• This medicine may cause impaired consciousness, etc. Be aware of operating in potentially hazardous activities such as driving a car. Especially, patient with renal function disorder may cause consciousness disorder easily. Avoid operating in potentially hazardous activities, if you are instructed to refrain it.

Possible adverse effects of this medicine

• respiratory distress, angioedema, hives[anaphylactoid shock, anaphylaxis]
• high fever, general malaise, hematuria, subcutaneous hemorrhage in limbs[pancytopenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, disseminated intravascular coagulation, thrombocytopenic purpura]
• decreased urine output, swelling of limbs and face, general malaise[acute renal failure]
• impaired consciousness (coma), hallucination, convulsion[neuropsychiatric symptom]
• high fever, bloodshot eyes, erythema [toxic epidermal necrolysis, mucocutaneous-ocular syndrome]

Storage conditions and other information

• Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
•  Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
