Effects of this medicine
Accolate helps prevent asthma symptoms by blocking the airway’s constriction and soothing hypersensitive reactions. It acts on leukotriene receptor in the respiratory tract.
Normally used for bronchial asthma treatment.

If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicine.
If you have ever experienced liver disease to any medicines.

If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

General dosage regimen: Adults should take 1-2 tablets (20-40mg of the active ingredient), and elderly patients should take 1 tablet ( 20mg of the active ingredient) at a time, 2 times a day after breakfast and at bedtime. Daily total dose should not exceed 4 tablets (80mg) of the active ingredient for adults, and 2 tablets (40mg) for the elderly.
Strictly follow the dosing instructions given by your doctor.

If you are ordered to use this medicine on regular schedule and you missed a dose, take dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take double doses to make up for the missed dose.

If you have taken or believe you may have taken excessive Accolate Tablets 20mg, check with your doctor/pharmacist immediately.

This medicine will not stop an acute attack that has already started. Continue your medication until instructed to stop by your doctor. Strictly keep the schedule/number of your doses.
Do not stop taking the medicine without the instructions of your doctor.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Possible adverse effects of this medicine
Common side effects are reported as below. If any of them occurs, check with your doctor/pharmacist:
Hypersensitive symptoms including: headache, nausea, stomachache, rash, itch, urticaria, hyperbilirubinemia.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse effects indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

General fatigue, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin or eyes[hepatitis fulminant, hepatic function disorder, jaundice]

Sore throat, headache, high fever with chills/tremor[agranulocytosis]

Dry cough, fever, shortness of breath[eosinophilic pneumonia]

Storage conditions and other information

Keep out of reach of children. Store away from heat, humidity and direct sunlight.

Susceptible to moisture; keep in the PTP (aluminum) sheet until just before dosing.

Discard remaining medicine; do not store them. Check with the pharmacy regarding how to discard.
