Dosage Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent w/ individual patient treatment goals. OA 200 mg/day as a single dose or 100 mg bd. RA 100-200 mg bd. Ankylosing spondylitis 200 mg daily in single or divided (bd) doses. Management of acute pain & treatment of primary dysmenorrhea Initially 400 mg, followed by 200 mg if needed on the 1st day. Subsequently, 200 mg bd as needed. Lower back pain (LBP) 100 mg bd.

Overdosage View Celebrex overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.
Administration May be taken with or without food
Contraindications Hypersensitivity to aspirin or other NSAIDs. Allergic-type reactions to sulfonamides. Asthma, urticaria, allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs. Treatment of peri-op pain in the setting of CABG surgery.

Special Precautions May cause increased risk of serious CV thrombotic events, MI & stroke. HTN, fluid retention (edema), CHF. Risk of GI ulceration, bleeding & perforation. Renal or hepatic impairment. Serious skin reactions eg exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome & toxic epidermal necrolysis. Avoid abrupt discontinuation. Anemia, preexisting asthma. Concomitant use w/ non-aspirin NSAID should be avoided. Pregnancy & lactation.

Adverse Drug Reactions GI disturbances, back pain, peripheral edema, accidental injury, dizziness, headache, insomnia, pharyngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, upper resp tract infection, rash.

Drug Interactions Non aspirin NSAIDs. ACE inhibitors, AIIA, aspirin, fluconazole, furosemide, lithium, fluvastatin, paroxetine, dextromethorphan, antacid. Anticoagulant activity should be monitored in patients taking warfarin or similar agents, particularly in the 1st few days after initiating or changing the dose of celecoxib. CYP2C9 inhibitors. Drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
