As an adjunct to adequate dietary management for the treatment of adult-onset diabetes. In some cases, it may be used in association with insulin. |

Dosage is determined on an individual basis according to the results of laboratory blood glucose measurements. In general, the average dosage is 2 tab/day. |

Category B: Either animal-reproduction studies have not demonstrated a foetal risk but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women or animal-reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect (other than a decrease in fertility) that was not confirmed in controlled studies in women in the 1st trimester (and there is no evidence of a risk in later trimesters). |

禁忌 |
Ketoacidosis; renal insufficiency; infectious diseases; during the 2 days following the use of IV iodinated contrast media; heart failure, respiratory insufficiency; hepatic insufficiency; persistent diarrhea, recurrent vomiting; excessive consumption of alcohol; lactation. |

注意事項 |
Lactic acidosis is rare & may occur in significant renal failure. Regular renal monitoring is needed. Suspend therapy during surgery & clinical investigations using IV iodinated contrast media. Patients should be cautioned against consuming alcohol & alcohol-containing medications. |

不良反應 |
GI disturbances, metallic taste. Rarely, lactic acidosis, mild erythema.

交互作用 |
Step-up blood glucose self-monitoring & consider dosage adjustments during coadministration with danazol, chlorpromazine, corticosteroids & tetracosactides (systemic & local routes), β-agonists. Avoid alcohol & alcohol-containing medications. Coadministration with diuretics (especially loop diuretics) & iodinated contrast media may increase risk of lactic acidosis.
