Indications |
Hodgkin's disease, certain forms of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, advanced ovarian adenocarcinoma. Some cases of breast cancer. |

Dosage |
Hodgkin's disease Adult & childn 0.2 mg/kg/day for 4-8 wk. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma Initially 0.1-0.2 mg/kg/day for 4-8 wk. Maintenance: Reduce dose or intermittent course. Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia 0.15 mg/kg/day till leukocyte count falls to 10,000 microliter. Treatment may be resumed 4 wk after end of 1st course w/ 0.1 mg/kg/day. Waldenstrom's macroglobulinaemia 6-12 mg/day till leukopenia occurs, then 2-8 mg/day. Ovarian carcinoma 0.2-0.3 mg/kg/day for 4-6 wk. Maintenance: 0.2 mg/kg/day for 2-4 wk w/ intervals of 2-6 wk between each course. Advanced breast cancer 0.2 mg/kg/day for 6 wk. |

Administration |
Should be taken on an empty stomach (Take on an empty stomach. Ensure adequate hydration. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.). |

Contraindications |
Pregnancy (1st trimester) & lactation. |

Special Precautions |
Monitor blood counts closely; should not be given to patients who have recently undergone radiotoxic or cytotoxic drug therapy. In lymphocytic infiltration of bone marrow daily dose should not be >0.1 mg/kg body wt. Impaired renal or hepatic function. Pregnancy. |

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Bone marrow suppression; GI disturbances. Occasionally, severe interstitial pulmonary fibrosis; hepatotoxicity & jaundice. Fever, skin hypersensitivity, peripheral neuropathy, interstitial pneumonia & sterile cystitis.
