Indications |
Prevention of acute &/or delayed nausea & vomiting associated w/ initial & repeat courses of moderately or highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy.

Dosage |
Adult Single 0.25 mg IV dose administered over 30 sec. To be administered 30 min before the start of chemotherapy.

Special Precautions |
Hypersensitivity to other 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. Prolongation of cardiac conduction intervals particularly QTc in patients w/ hypokalemia or hypomagnesemia, congenital QT syndrome; patients on diuretics w/ potential for inducing electrolyte abnormalities; or on antiarrhythmics or other drugs which lead to QT prolongation & cumulative high dose anthracycline therapy. Patients <18 yr, pregnancy, lactation.

Pregnancy Category (US FDA) |
Category B: Either animal-reproduction studies have not demonstrated a foetal risk but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women or animal-reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect (other than a decrease in fertility) that was not confirmed in controlled studies in women in the 1st trimester (and there is no evidence of a risk in later trimesters). |
