Dosage |
Duodenal ulcer 20 mg once daily for 2-4 wk. Prevention of relapse of duodenal ulcer 10 mg once daily, may increase to 20-40 mg once daily. H. pylori eradication: Dual therapy regimen 40-80 mg w/ amoxycillin 1.5 g in divided dose for 2 wk or Losec MUPS 40 mg once daily & clarithromycin 500 mg tid for 2 wk. Triple therapy regimens Losec MUPS 20 mg, amoxycillin 1 g & clarithromycin 500 mg, all bid daily for 1 wk, or Losec MUPS 20 mg, clarithromycin 250 mg & metronidazole 400 mg (or tinidazole 500 mg), all bid daily for 1 wk. Gastric ulcer 20 mg once daily for 4-8 wk. Prevention of relapse of gastric ulcer 20 mg once daily, may increase to 40 mg once daily. Reflux oesophagitis 20 mg once daily for 4-8 wk. Prevention of relapse of recurrent reflux oesophagitis 10 mg once daily, may increase to 20-40 mg once daily. Symptomatic GERD 20 mg daily. Acid-related dyspepsia 10-20 mg once daily. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome Initially 60 mg daily. Maintenance: 20-120 mg daily. Dose >80 mg should be given in 2 divided doses.

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Headache, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting, flatulence. Rarely rash &/or pruritus, dizziness, increased liver enzymes, hypersensitivity reactions.

Drug Interactions |
May prolong elimination of diazepam, warfarin & phenytoin. Increases plasma conc of clarithromycin.

Pregnancy Category (US FDA) |
