Tretinoin |

Indications |
Induction of remission in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) in previously untreated patients as well as patients who relapse after standard chemotherapy or patients who are refractory to any chemotherapy. |

Dosage |
45 mg/m2 divided into 2 equal doses. Adult Approx 8 cap/dose. Childn Consider dose reduction in intractable headache. Treat for 30-90 days until complete remission has been achieved. |

Administration |
Should be taken with food (Take w/ or shortly after meals.). |

Contraindications |
Pregnancy. Lactation. |

Special Precautions |
Patient experiencing hyperleucocytosis. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. |

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Thrombosis, hypercalcemia, skin dryness, erythema, rash, pruritus, sweating, hair loss, genital ulceration, sweet's syndrome; cheilitis, dryness of mouth, nose, conjunctiva & other mucous membranes; headache, intracranial hypertension/pseudotumour cerebri (mainly in childn), fever, shivering, dizziness, confusion, anxiety, depression, paraesthesias, insomnia, malaise. Vision & hearing disorders, bone pain, chest pain, GI disturbances, pancreatitis, elevation in serum triglycerides, cholesterol, transaminases & creatinine, dyspnea, resp insufficiency, pleural effusion, asthma-like syndrome, arrhythmias, flushing, edema.
