Indications |
Local or regional anesth by local infiltration, minor & major nerve blocks, arthroscopy. |

Dosage |
Adult & childn ≥12 yr Intra-articular block & infiltration <150 mg. Digital block 10-50 mg. Intercostals (per nerve) 20-50 mg. Retrobulbar 80 mg. Peribulbar 100-150 mg. Pudendal & major nerve block paracervical (each side) 100 mg. Sciatic 300 mg. |

Contraindications |
Hypersensitivity to amide-type local anesth, methyl/propyl parahydroxybenzoate, PABA, Na metabisulphite (in soln containing adrenaline). |

Special Precautions |
Epilepsy, impaired cardiac conduction, impaired resp & hepatic function Xylocaine Patient w/ bradycardia. Xylocaine w/ Adrenaline Patients w/ HTN, cardiac disease, cerebrovascular insufficiency, thyrotoxicosis. |

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Nervousness, dizziness, blurred vision, tremors, followed by drowsiness, convulsions, unconsciousness & possibly resp arrest. Hypotension, myocardial depression, bradycardia & possibly cardiac arrest. Rarely, allergic reactions.
