Contents Per 1 g vial Sulbactam Na 500 mg, cefoperazone Na 500 mg. Per 1.5 g vial Sulbactam Na 500 mg, cefoperazone Na 1,000 mg
Indications Resp tract infections, UTI, peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis & other intra-abdominal infections, septicemia, skin & soft tissue infections, bone & joint infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, gonorrhea & other genital tract infections.

Dosage Adult 2-4 g daily of 1 g vial or 1.5-3 g daily of 1.5 g vial. Severe/refractory infections up to 8 g of 1 g vial or 12 g of 1.5 g vial. May require additional cefoperazone administered separately in 1:1 ratio. Max daily dose: 4 g of sulbactam. All adult doses to be given 12 hrly in equally divided doses. Childn 40-80 mg/kg/day of 1 g vial or 30-60 mg/kg/day of 1.5 g vial. To be given 6-12 hrly in equally divided doses. Serious/refractory infections Up to 160 mg/kg/day of 1 g vial or 240 mg/kg/day of 1.5 g vial. To be given in 2-4 equally divided doses. Neonate Max: 80 mg/kg/day of sulbactam. To be given 12 hrly.

Contraindications Known allergy to penicillins, sulbactam, cefoperazone or cephalosporins.

Special Precautions Hepatic dysfunction & renal impairment, patients at risk of vit K deficiency, overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms in prolonged use, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, HTN. Avoid alcohol during & until 5 days after administration. Premature infants & neonates. Pregnancy, lactation.

Adverse Drug Reactions Diarrhea/loose stools, nausea, vomiting, maculopapular rash, urticaria, hematologic disorders, headache, fever, inj pain, chills, transient elevations of liver function tests.
