Indications |
Supply of energy & essential fatty acids in pre- & post-op nutritional disturbances, nutritional disorders or disturbances of nitrogen bal due to inadequate or failing intestinal absorption, burns, prolonged unconsciousness eg following cranial traumata or poisoning, impaired renal function, cachexia. |

Dosage |
Adult Max: 3 g fat/kg body wt/day. Newborn & infant 0.5-4 g fat/kg body wt/day. Very low birthwt infant & small for gestational age infant Initially 0.5 g/kg/body wt/day. |

Contraindications |
Severe disorders of fat metabolism, severe liver damage & acute shock. |

Special Precautions |
Renal insufficiency, uncompensated diabetes, certain forms of liver insufficiency (monitor liver function), metabolic disorders & sepsis. |

Chills & fever (rare).
