Indications |
Phosphate binding agent to control hyperphosphatemia in chronic renal failure patients on hemodialysis or continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.

Dosage |
Adult & elderly (>65 yr) 750-2,250 mg/day. Max duration: 3 yr.

Overdosage |
View Fosrenol overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose. |
Administration |
Should be taken with food (Take w/ or immediately after food, w/ the daily dose divided between meals. Chew thoroughly before swallowing. Do not swallow whole.). |
Contraindications |
Hypophosphatemia.

Special Precautions |
Acute peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease or bowel obstruction. Monitor serum Ca levels in patients w/ renal insufficiency. Severe hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <18 yr.

Adverse Drug Reactions |
GI reactions eg abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dyspepsia, flatulence, nausea & vomiting. Hypocalcemia.

Pregnancy Category (US FDA) |
