Indications |
Antiviral combination treatment of HIV-1 infections. |
Dosage |
In combination w/ a PI &/or NRTIs Adult & childn ≥40 kg 600 mg once daily. Childn 3-17 yr 32.5-40 kg 400 mg, 25-32.5 kg 350 mg, 20-25 kg 300 mg, 15-20 kg 250 mg, 13-15 kg 200 mg. To be taken once daily. |

Special Precautions |
Must be given in combination w/ other antiretroviral medications. Discontinue use in case of suspected intolerance. Pregnancy, lactation. Liver disease, renal impairment. Monitor liver enzymes & cholesterol. History of seizure & psychiatric disorders. Childn <3 yr & patients weighing <13 kg. |
Adverse Drug Reactions |
Rash, nausea, headache, fatigue. Nervous system symptoms eg dizziness, insomnia, drowsiness, impaired conc, abnormal dreaming.

Drug Interactions |
Potential life-threatening adverse effects when used w/ terfenadine, astemizole, cisapride, midazolam, triazolam or ergot derivatives. Indinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir, rifamycins, clarithromycin, ethinylestradiol, methadone, St. John's wort.
