Indications |
Short-term IV therapy of CHF. |

Dosage |
Loading dose: 50 mcg/kg IV (over 10 min). Maintenance dose: 0.59-1.13 mg/kg/day (0.375-0.75 mcg/kg/min as continuous IV infusion). |

Special Precautions |
Severe obstructive aortic or pulmonic valvular disease, acute phase of post MI. Monitor BP & heart rate during therapy. Renal impairment. |

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Headache, ventricular & supraventricular arrhythmias, hypotension, chest pain, rash.

Pregnancy Category (US FDA) |
Category C: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the foetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. |
