Drug Description
2mg white tablets; 4 mg white oblong scored tablets.
Presentation
Tablets, perindopril tert- butylamine 2 mg , 4mg .
Indications
Essential and renovascular hypertension.
Adult Dosage
Initially 2 mg once daily before food increasing to maintenance of 4 mg once daily; maximum 8 mg once daily. Discontinue any diuretics 3 days before starting therapy with 2 mg daily. Resume later if required.
Child Dosage
Not recommended.
Elderly Dosage
2 mg daily initiated under close supervision.
Contra Indications
Pregnancy, lactation.
Special Precautions
Haemodialysis. Renal impairment; monitor renal function before and during treatment. Surgery/ anaesthesia.
Interactions
K+ supplements, K+-sparing diuretics, lithium, NSAIDs, antidiabetic agents, neuroleptics, tricyclic antidepressants, antihypertensives.
Adverse Reactions
Localised skin rashes, pruritus or flushing. Angioneurotic oedema. Hypotension. Taste impairment, nausea, abdominal pain. Fatigue, asthenia, malaise, headache. Mild cough. Decreases in haemoglobin, red cells and platelets. Reversible increases Proteinuria.
