Drug Description
Fluid in pre-filled syringe.

Presentation
Injection, hylan G-F 20 8mg per mL. (Now prescribable on the NHS.)

Indications
Osteoarthritis of the knee.

Adult Dosage
1 x 2 ml intra-articular injection of the knee joint at weekly intervals for 3 weeks. Treatment may be repeated as necessary with min. interval of 4 weeks between courses; max. 6 injections in any 6 month period.

Child Dosage
Under 18 years, not recommended.

Contra Indications
Venous or lymphatic stasis of the leg. Infected or severely inflamed joints. Hypersensitivity to avian protein.

Adverse Reactions
Transient pain and swelling.
