适应症
本品试用于治疗急慢性肾功能衰竭、肾病综合征、狼疮性肾炎、肝肾综合征等并发的高钾血症（血钾＞5.5mmol／L者），证明有明显疗效，血钾下降幅度为0.5～1mmol／L或更多，且无显著副作用。
用法用量
口服：成人每次15～30g，事先可用水调匀，每日服1～2次或遵医嘱。若有便秘，可与甘露醇粉或山梨醇粉等量同时服用。儿童参考剂量每天按1g／kg计算。
直肠给药：每次30g，每天1～2次，用水或20％甘露醇100～200ml混匀作高位保留灌肠。
注意事项
（1）副作用轻微，少数患者可发生轻度恶心、呕吐、血压升高、便秘等症状。
（2）有严重高血压及心力衰竭者慎用。
（3）治疗期间应经常测定血钾水平，避免血钾过低，血钾降至4.5mmol／L时即应停药。

KAYEXALATE (SODIUM POLYSTYRENE SULFONATE)
Kayexalate Description
Kayexalate belongs to the class of medications called cation-exchange resins. It is used to treat high levels of potassium in the blood, a condition known as hyperkalemia. Kayexalate contains sodium polystyrene sulfonate which lowers the level of potassium in the blood by binding to potassium in the intestine.
Sodium polystyrene sulfonate removes potassium by exchanging sodium ions for potassium ions in the intestine. The majority of this exchange seems to take place in the large intestine where potassium ions are excreted in greater amounts
Conditions Treated by Kayexalate
Hyperkalemia is the medical term that describes a potassium level in your blood that's higher than normal. While potassium is a nutrient that is critical to the function of nerve and muscle cells, including those in your heart, too much potassium in your blood can lead to dangerous and possibly deadly changes in heart rhythm.
The most common causes of hyperkalemia are disease or damage of the kidneys. Other causes of this condition may be related to Addison’s disease, alcoholism, certain types of medications and type 1 diabetes. Symptoms of hyperkalemia may include weakness, slow heart rate or arrhythmia (a potentially life threatening abnormal heart rhythm).
Before You Take Kayexalate
Before receiving Kayexalate tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have: kidney disease, constipation, edema, heart disease or congestive heart failure, high blood pressure.
Warnings for Kayexalate
You should not take Kayexalate if you have obstructive bowel disease. Certain antacids and laxatives should not be taken at the same time as Kayexalate.
Possible Side Effects of Kayexalate

·Loss of appetite
·Nausea
·Vomiting
You should advise your doctor if you experience any of the following more serious side effects while taking Kayexalate: muscle weakness, irregular heartbeat, swelling of the hands or feet, mental/mood changes.
