Effects of this medicine
This medicine lowers blood cholesterol level by inhibiting cholesterol synthetase (HMG-CoA reductase) in liver.
It is usually used to treat hypercholesterolemia and familial hypercholesterolemia.

If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
If you are a patient with hepatic disorder or renal disorder.

If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

In general, for adults, take 20-30 mg of fluvastatin at a time, once a day after dinner. Start with 20 mg a day and adjusted according to the age or symptoms. The dosage may be increased to 3 tablets (60 mg) a day in severe case. This preparation contains 20 mg of fluvastatin in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.

If you missed a dose, take a dose as soon as possible. However, if it is 8 hours or less before the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.

If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Fundamentals of hypercholesterolemia treatment are dietary and exercise therapies. Just taking the medicine is not enough. Try to regulate your daily life as instructed.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include stomach discomfort, nausea, heartburn, diarrhea, abdominal pain, rash and itching. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

pain or stiffness in muscles, muscle weakness, red-brown urine [rhabdomyolysis, myopathy]

loss of appetite, general malaise, yellowness in skin or conjunctiva [hepatic dysfunction]

pain in muscles or joint, general malaise, fever [lupus-like syndrome, vasculitis]

swelling in eyelid/lips/tongue/throat, breathlessness [angioedema]

fever, cough, breathlessness [interstitial pneumonia]
