Effects of this medicine

This medicine is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract with remaining in harmless compound to the gastrointestinal tract, and migrates to the inflamed site. Then it releases its active ingredient, indometacin, at the inflamed site to reduce inflammation, and consequently relieves swelling and pain.
It is usually used to relieve inflammation and pain of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lumbago, periarthritis scapulohumeralis, and neck-shoulder-arm syndrome, etc.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rach, etc.) to any medicines.
    If you are a patient with peptic ulcer (gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer) , hematological disorder, hepatic disorder, renal disorder, heart failure, hypertension, or pancreatitis.
    If you are a patient with aspirin-induced asthma, or with a history of aspirin-induced asthma.
    If you are taking triamterene (Triteren).
  • If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is <<        to be written by a healthcare professional>>
  • In general, for adults, take 1 capsule (200 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, twice daily, after meal in the morning and evening. The dosage may be adjusted according to your disease, the age and symptoms. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • The medicine should be taken after meal or with milk since the absorption of the medicine will be decreased if you take it on an empty stomach.
  • If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as possible when you remember that you missed a dose. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should not take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • The medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Avoid driving a car or operating dangerous machinery after taking the medicine.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include rash, itch, erythema, gastric discomfort, gastric pain, abdominal pain, anorexia and vomiting. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • breathing difficulty, facial pallor, dizziness, cold sweat  [shock, anaphylactoid symptoms]
  • chest pain, abdominal pain, black stool, hematochezia, failure of passing stool, nausea, vomiting, fever  [perforation of the digestive tract, hemorrhage of the digestive tract, ulcer of the digestive tract, hemorrhagic colitis, constriction and obstruction of the intestinal tract, ulcerative colitis]
  • anemia, fever, gum bleeding, subcutaneous bleeding  [aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia]
  • fever, extensive flat redness, erosion in the eye, mouth or genitalium  [oculomucocutaneous syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis]
  • breathing difficulty, wheezing  [asthmatic attack]
  • general swelling, decreased urine output, muscular weakness  [acute renal failure, nephrotic syndrome, hyperkalemia]
  • nausea, vomiting, anorexia, yellowing in the skin or white of the eye  [hepatic dysfunction, jaundice]
  • unconsciousness, consciousness disturbance  [coma, confusion]
  • bleeding from the genital except menstruating  [genital bleeding]

Storage conditions and other information

  • Since the capsule may get soft due to moisture, store away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
