Effects of this medicine
This medicine is a calcium channel blocker to reduce the movement of calcium into the cells of the heart and blood vessels. As a result, it relaxes coronary and peripheral blood vessels to lower blood pressure and prevent an angina attack.
It is usually used to treat angina and high blood pressure.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
If you have: low blood pressure, liver dysfunction or kidney dysfunction.

If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

For treatment of hypertension: In general, for adults, take 2.5 to 5 mg of amlodipine at a time, once a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the symptoms. If it is not effective enough, then increase the dose up to maximum of 10 mg of amlodipine at a time, once a day.
For treatment of angina: In general, for adults, take 5 mg of amlodipine at a time, once a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the symptoms.
This preparation contains 10 mg of amlodipine in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions in either case.

You can take the medicine without water. Place the tablet in your mouth and allow it to dissolve with saliva, and then swallow it with saliva.
You can also take it with a glass of water or lukewarm water like regular tablets.

(For treatment of hypertension) If you miss a dose, return to your regular dosing schedule from the next day. (For treatment of angina) If you miss a dose and remember it within one day, take the missed dose as soon as possible. You should never take two doses at one time.

If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

This medicine may cause dizziness and light headedness due to lowered blood pressure. Pay attention when you drive a car, work at heights or operate dangerous machines.

Avoid drinking grapefruit juice with this medicine, because the effect of this medicine may be increased.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include glow (heat sensation, facial hot flush etc.), dizziness/light headedness, headache/dull headache, palpitation, edema, rash, itch, hives, solar sensitiveness, polymorphic erythema, vasculitis, angioedema (swelling of the eyelid/lips, respiratory distress) and gingival hyperplasia caused by continuous use. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

general malaise, loss of appetite, yellowing in skin and white of eyes [liver dysfunction, jaundice]

bleeding tendency (gingival or nose bleeding), prolonged bleeding, subcutaneous bleeding [thrombocytopenia]

throat pain, fever, headache [leukopenia]

bradycardia, dizziness, syncope [atrioventricular block]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.

Discard the remainder. Do not store them. If you dispose of unused medicines, ask the pharmacist or the medical institution how to discard them.
