Effects of this medicine
This medicine has antidepressive effect and anti-anxiety/panic disorder effect by selectively inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin in the brain to increase continuous nerve transmission with increased serotonin level at the synaptic cleft.
Usually, used for treatment of depression/depressed state and panic disorder. |

If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicine.
If you have liver dysfunction, bipolar illness(also called manic-depressive illness), suicidal thoughts/suicide attempt or its history, predisposition of organic brain disorder or schizophrenia, highly impulsive comorbid disorders, convulsive disorders such as epilepsy or its history, bleeding tendency or suspected hemorrhagic disorders.

If you are using any other prescription or nonprescription (OTC) medicine. (It is important to reduce the risk of drug interactions.)

Dosage regimen (proper use of this medicine)

General dosage regimen: For adults, start with one tablet (25 mg of the active ingredient) per day and gradually increase the dosage up to 4 tablets (100 mg) once a day. The dosage may be adjusted up to 4 tablets (100 mg) per day according to your diseases, age and symptoms. Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor/pharmacist.

Missed dose: If you missed a dose and remembered it within one day, take the missed dose as soon as possible. DO NOT take double doses to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose: If you took too much of the medicine (more than ordered), check with your doctor/pharmacist.

Others: Do not stop taking the medicine without the instructions of your doctor. Sudden discontinuation of the medicine may cause adverse symptoms (anxiety, restless feeling, agitation, dizziness, headache).

Precautions while using this medicine

Somnolence or dizziness may occur after taking the medicine. Be aware of driving a car or operating dangerous machinery.

Alcohol may intensify medicine's effect. Avoid alcohol during medication.

St. John's wort may intensify the action on serotonin. Never eat any food product containing St. John's wort.

The medicine may cause worsening symptoms of the disease, suicidal thoughts/suicide attempt and harming others, but these causal relationships are unknown. If any of these signs occur, check with your doctor/pharmacist with keeping taking the medicine. Your family members should receive information about the following risks from your doctor: Change in patient's behavior such as suicide, tendency to excite, acting aggressive and change in mental or physical condition due to slight irritation, and worsening the underlying disease such as depression. After fully understanding these risks, family members should check whether your condition is changed or not. If family members observe any of these conditions, consult your doctor. In addition, if you notice any of them, inform your family members.

Side effects of this medicine
Common side effects are reported as below. If any of them occurs, check with your doctor/pharmacist: nausea, somnolence, dry mouth, headache, diarrhea, dizziness, fever, rash, etc.In rare cases, symptoms described below may be the sign of side effects indicated in brackets [ ]. If they occur, stop taking your medicine and check with your doctor immediately.

anxiety, restlessness/agitation/confusion, sweating[serotonin syndrome]

astomia, stiffness of the muscle, difficulty in swallowing[neuroleptic malignant syndrome]

convulsive constriction of the muscle, complete loss of consciousness[convulsion, coma]

dullness (general), loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin or the whites of eyes[liver dysfunction, liver failure, jaundice]
-
increase body weight in a short duration without swelling, convulsion, consciousness disorder[the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion(SIADH)]
Other side effects not listed here may occur. Check with your doctor/pharmacist if you have any worrisome symptom. |
Storage and other information

Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity.
