Effects of this medicine
This medicine inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme and decreases the production of angiotensin II to lower the blood pressure and to relieve cardiac failure symptoms.
It is usually used in the treatment of hypertension and chronic cardiac failure (mild to moderate). |

If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicine.
Patient with a history of angioedema.
Patient receiving plasma exchange therapy (apheresis).
Patient with kidney disease.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you are using any other prescription or nonprescription (OTC) medicine. (It is important to reduce the risk of drug interactions.)

General dosage regimen:
For the treatment of hypertension, for adults, Take 10-20mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day. It should be adjusted according to the age and symptom of the patient. ONLY, when treating severe hypertension or hypertension with kidney disease is present, start with taking 5mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day. 1 tablet contains 20mg of the active ingredient. Strictly follow the dosing instructions given by your doctor.
For the treatment of chronic heart failure, for adults, Take 5-10mg of the active ingredient at a time, once a day. 1 tablet contains 20mg of the active ingredient. ONLY, if the patient has kidney disease, start from 2.5mg at a time, once a day. It should be adjusted according to the age and symptom of the patient. Strictly follow the dosing instructions given by your doctor.

Missed dose: If you are ordered to use this medicine on regular schedule and you missed a dose, take dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose: If you have taken or believe you may have taken excessive Zestril Tablets 20, check with your doctor/pharmacist immediately.

Others: Do not stop taking the medicine without the instructions of your doctor.

Precautions while using this medicine

You may feel dizziness/lightheadedness. Do not drive a car, operate dangerous machinery, or work at heights during medication.

Side effects of this medicine
Common side effects are reported as below. If any of them occurs, check with your doctor/pharmacist: anemia, cough, hypersensitivity (rash, itch, photo-sensitivity)In rare cases, symptoms described below may be the sign of side effects indicated in brackets [ ]. If they occur, stop taking your medicine and check with your doctor immediately.

decreased urination output, urinary retention, swelling of the limbs[acute renal failure]

loss of appetite, general dullness, nausea, yellowing of the skin/eyes[liver dysfunction, jaundice]

swelling of the eyelids/lips/tongue[angioedema]

numbness of the limbs/lips, failing muscular strength, paralysis on hands/feet[hyperkalaemia]
