Effects of this medicine
This medication controls epileptic seizures by suppressing excess excitation of brain nerves.
It is usually used in combination with other antiepileptic drugs in order to treat partial epileptic seizures. |
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor/pharmacist

If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicine.
If you have renal disorder or hepatic disorder.

Dosage regimen (proper use of this medicine)

General dosage regimen: For adults, 4 tablets (1,000 mg of the active ingredient) a day taken in 2 divided doses. Dosage may be adjusted according to symptoms, but should not exceed 12 tablets (3,000 mg) a day. Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor/pharmacist.

Missed dose: Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take double doses to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose: If you took too much of the medicine (more than ordered), check with your doctor/pharmacist.

Others: Do not stop taking the medicine without the instructions of your doctor.

Precautions while using this medicine

This medication may cause drowsiness, memory loss (forgetfulness), loss of concentration, diminished responsiveness, etc. Do not attempt to operate a motor vehicle or other machinery while taking the medication.

Side effects of this medicine
Common side effects are reported as below. If any of them occurs, check with your doctor/pharmacist: nasopharyngitis, somnolence, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, constipation, rash, etc.In rare cases, symptoms described below may be the sign of side effects indicated in brackets [ ]. If they occur, stop taking your medicine and check with your doctor immediately.

fever, erythema, general malaise[Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrosis]

bleeding tendency, fever, sore throat[severe blood disorder (pancytopenia, leukocytopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia)]

general malaise, decreased appetite, yellowness in skin or conjunctiva[hepatic failure, hepatitis]

severe pain in upper abdominal area, fever, nausea[pancreatitis]
Other side effects not listed here may occur. Check with your doctor/pharmacist if you have any worrisome symptom. |
Storage and other information

Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. (Though fading may occur, it does not affect the contents of active ingredient).

If you stop taking this medication on consulting with your doctor, discard any remaining unused medication.
