Effects of this medicine
Used to reduce blood cholesterol, or to treat familial hypercholesterolemia.This medicine works by slowing the production of cholesterol in the body. It selectively/competitively inhibits the action of enzyme HMG-CoA reductase that takes place in the liver to synthesize cholesterol.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicine.
If you are a patient with acute hepatitis, acute exacerbation of chronic hepatitis, liver cancer, jaundice, renal impairment.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

General dosage regimen: For adults, start with taking 1 tablet at a time, once a day (2.5mg of the active ingredient). If you need to lower LDL-cholesterol promptly, your doctor may prescribe 2 tablets at a time (5mg of the active ingredient) from the start. It should be adjusted according to the age and symptom of the patient. If it does not show enough effectiveness after 4 weeks, you may have higher dose. Do not exceed 8 tablets (20mg) a day. Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor/pharmacist.

If you are ordered to use this medicine on regular schedule and you missed a dose, take dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

If you have taken or believe you may have taken excessive Crestor Tablets 2.5mg, check with your doctor/pharmacist.

Do not stop taking this medicine without the instructions of your doctor.

Possible adverse effects of this medicine
Common side effects are reported as below. If any of them occurs, check with your doctor/pharmacist: sore muscle, rash, itch, hives, etc.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse effects indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

pain in muscle, lassitude, red urine[rhabdomyolysis, myopathy]

loss of appetite, general dullness, yellowing of the skin/eyes[hepatitis, liver dysfunction, jaundice]

nose bleeding, bleeding from gum, subcutaneous bleeding in limbs[thrombocytopenia]
-
angioedema(swollen face/lips/eyelids), rash, itch, faint consciousness[hypersensitivity]
-
fever, dry cough, respiratory distress[interstitial pneumonitis]

Storage conditions and other information

Storage: Keep out of reach of children. Store away from heat, humidity and direct sunlight.
Others: Discard remaining medicine; do not store them.
