Effects of this medicine

Anti-ulcer drug which improves the blood stream in gastric mucosa, and accelerates gastrointestinal motility and improves ulcer symptoms.
It regulates neurotransmitter in the brain (dopamine etc.), to soothe strong anxiety/tense nerve and stabilize the mood. It also alleviates the feeling when depressed.
It is usually used to treat gastric/duodenal ulcer, schizophrenia and depression.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicine.
    If you are a patient with: prolactin-secreting pituitary neoplasm, possibility of phaeochromocytomia.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is <<        to be written by a healthcare professional>>

  • General dosage regimen: For adults under treatment of gastric/duodenal ulcer, take 0.5g (50mg of the active ingredient) at a time, 3 times a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the symptoms. Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor/pharmacist.
  • For adults under treatment of schizophrenia, take 3-6g (300-600mg of the active ingredient) per day, in several divided doses. The dosage may be adjusted according to the age or symptoms. Daily dose must NOT be higher than 12g (1200mg of the active ingredient). Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor/pharmacist.
  • For adults under treatment of depression, take 1.5-3g (150-300mg of the active ingredient) per day, in several divided doses. The dosage may be adjusted according to the age or symptoms. Daily dose must NOT be higher than 6g (600mg of the active ingredient). Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor/pharmacist.
  • If you are ordered to take this medicine on regular schedule and you missed a dose, take as soon as possible. If there is less than 4 hours left before the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
  • If you took too much of this medicine (more than ordered), check with your doctor/pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without the instructions of your doctor.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • You may feel sleepy or dizzy after taking this medicine. Therefore do not drive a car or operate dangerous machinery during the treatment.
  • Please note that alcohol may intensify the effect of this medicine.

Possible adverse effects of this medicine

Common side effects are reported as below. If any of them occurs, check with your doctor/pharmacist: sleep disorder, hands/feet tremor, menstrual disorder, secretion of breast milk, breast development in male, rash, oedema, itch.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse effects indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
  • sudden fever, muscle rigidity, hands/feet tremor[malignant syndrome]
  • convulsion, spasm, stiffness[convulsion]
  • palpitation, shortness of breath[prolonged QT intervals, ventricular tachycardia]
  • general fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea[liver dysfunction, jaundice]
  • involuntary movement of face, particularly around the mouth[tardive dyskinesia]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
  •  Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
