Effects of this medicine
This medicine has effects to suppress proliferation of cancer cells by inhibiting synthesis and functions of the cancer cell gene.
It is usually used in the treatment of gastric cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer. It is also used for esophageal cancer, lung cancer and head and neck cancer in combination therapy with other drugs or radiation.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
If you have: myelosuppression, hepatic dysfunction, renal dysfunction, infection, gastrointestinal ulcer or haemorrhage, or varicella (chickenpox).
If you have heart disease or a history of it.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

In general, this medicine is injected intravenously or administered by intravenous infusion. It may be administered by intraarterial injection if necessary.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Possible adverse effects of this medicine
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include anorexia, diarrhea, loose stool, general malaise, nausea, vomiting, stomatitis, pigmentation, alopecia, rash, degeneration of artery wall around catheter tip and thrombus formation. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse effects indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

severe diarrhea, impaired consciousness, deep large breathing [dehydration]

intense abdominal pain, diarrhea, hematochezia [serious enterocolitis (haemorrhagic enterocolitis, ischaemic enterocolitis, necrotising enterocolitis)]

general malaise, bruise, dizziness [myelosuppression (leukopenia, anaemia, thrombocytopenia, etc.)]

rash, breathing difficulty, decreased blood pressure [shock, anaphylactoid symptoms]

unsteady gait, numbness of terminal portion of extremities, impaired tongue movement [leukoencephalopathy]

chest pain, cold sweat, feeling of strong pressure in chest [congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, angina at rest]

general swelling, fatigability, difficulty in urination [acute renal failure]

fever, dry cough, difficult to breathe [interstitial pneumonia]

general malaise, anorexia, yellowing in skin and white of eyes, flapping tremor in hands [hepatic function disorder, jaundice, hepatic failure, hepatic and biliary tract disorder (cholecystitis, bile duct necrosis, parenchymal disorder of liver, etc.)]

nausea, vomiting, gastric pain, oral erosion and pain [gastrointestinal ulcer, serious stomatitis]

sudden intense pain in low back and back, fever, nausea, vomiting [acute pancreatitis]

impaired consciousness, flapping tremor in hands, tremor in limbs [hyperammonemia with consciousness disorder]

hypesthesia and supersensitivity, pain, skin exfoliation in volar [hand-foot syndrome]

difficult to smell, feel no smell [dysosmia, anosmia]
