Effects of this medicine
This medicine suppresses postprandial hyperglycemia (elevation in the blood glucose level after a meal) by stimulating beta cells in the pancreas to promote insulin secretion.
It is usually used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

If you ever experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash etc.) to any medicine.
If you have ketosis, diabetic coma or precoma, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, renal disorder, or infections.
If you are in a pre- or post-operative state. If you have any injury.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

General dosage regimen: For adults, take 3 tablets (90mg of the active ingredient) at a time, 3 times daily, before each meal (within 10 minutes). If the effect is insufficient, the dosage may be increased up to 4 tablets (120mg) at a time while observing your clinical course. Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor/pharmacist.

If you realize that you have missed a dose after starting a meal, skip the missed dose and take the usual dose before the next meal. DO NOT take double doses to make up for the missed dose. (It may cause hypoglycemic conditions).

If you took too much of the medicine (more than ordered), check with your doctor/pharmacist. If you have dizziness or light-headedness due to lowering of blood glucose (hypoglycemia), take something that contains glucose, such as sugar or juice, or glucose if you are concomitantly taking an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor (acarbose or voglibose), before consulting with your doctor.

Do not stop taking the medicine without the instructions of your doctor.

Precautions while taking this medicine

Take meals regularly and avoid excessive eating and drinking.

The medicine may cause dizziness or light-headedness due to hypoglycemia. Pay close attention when you drive a car, work at heights, or operate dangerous machinery.

Take something that contains glucose, such as sugar or juice, if you have dizziness or light-headedness due to hypoglycemia. Take glucose, if you are concomitantly taking an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor (acarbose or voglibose).

Possible adverse effects of this medicine
Common side effects are reported as below. If any of them occurs, check with your doctor/pharmacist: queasy, increased flatus, bloating, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, rash, itching, urticaria, erythema multiforme, headache, dizziness, malaise, etc.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse effects indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

cold sweat, chills, palpitations [hypoglycemia]

general malaise, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes [hepatic function disorder, jaundice]

chest pain with feeling of pressure or tightness, anginal pain, cold sweat [myocardial infarction]
