Dosage |
Adult 600 mg bd. Start at no <300 mg bd & increased at 2-3 day intervals by 100 mg bd. Childn 350-400 mg/m2 bd, should not exceed 600 mg bd. Start at 250 mg/m2 increased at 2-3 day intervals by 50 mg/m2 bd.

Contraindications |
Co-administration w/ drugs metabolised by CYP3A which can cause serious &/or life-threatening reactions, including alfuzosin HCl, amiodarone, bepridil, flecainide, propafenone, quinidine, astemizole, terfenadine, dihydroergotamine, ergonovine, ergotamine, methylergonovine, cisapride, pimozide, midazolam, triazolam.

Special Precautions |
Hepatic impairment, haemophilia type A & B, DM, hyperglycemia, pancreatitis. Perform triglyceride & cholesterol testing prior to initiating therapy & at periodic intervals during therapy. Pregnancy & lactation.

Asthenia, GI & neurological disturbances including nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, anorexia, abdominal pain, taste perversion & circumoral & peripheral paresthesias.

Category B: Either animal-reproduction studies have not demonstrated a foetal risk but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women or animal-reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect (other than a decrease in fertility) that was not confirmed in controlled studies in women in the 1st trimester (and there is no evidence of a risk in later trimesters). |
