Indications |
Adult Newly diagnosed Ph+ chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in chronic phase, blast crisis, accelerated phase or in chronic phase after failure of interferon-α therapy. Unresectable &/or metastatic malignant GI stromal tumors (GIST). Childn Ph+ chronic phase CML w/c recurred after stem cell transplant or resistant to interferon-α therapy.

Dosage |
Adult Chronic phase CML 400 once daily, may be increased to 600 mg Accelerated or blast crisis CML 600 mg once daily, may be increased to 800 mg (given as 400 mg bd). Unresectable &/or metastatic malignant GIST 400 or 600 mg/day. Childn Chronic phase CML 260-340 mg/m2 once daily.

Special Precautions |
Hepatic or renal impairment. Fluid retention & edema, GI irritation, hemorrhage. Monitor wt, CBC & liver function regularly. Pregnancy & lactation (avoid).

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, edema, muscle cramps, musculoskeletal pain, myalgia, joint pain, rash, fatigue, headache, fluid retention, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, hemorrhage.
