Prevention of nausea & vomiting induced by cancer chemotherapy. Treatment & prevention of post-op nausea & vomiting, esp in patients undergoing intra-abdominal gynecological surgery.

Dosage |
Prevention of nausea & vomiting induced by cancer chemotherapy Adult 6-day courses w/ one 5 mg/5 mL amp IV on day 1 & 1 cap/day on days 2-6. Childn >2 yr 0.2 mg/kg up to a max of 5 mg/day IV on day 1 & orally (amp soln diluted in orange juice or cola) on days 2 up to 6. Post-op nausea & vomiting Adult 2 mg by IV infusion or slow inj.

Overdosage |
View Navoban overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose. |
Administration |
Should be taken on an empty stomach (Take in the morning immediately upon rising 1 hr before breakfast.). |
Contraindications |
Pregnancy, unless surgical procedure involves therapeutic abortion.

Special Precautions |
In uncontrolled HTN; cardiac patients; lactation, when patients drive a vehicle or operate machinery.

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Headache, constipation. Less frequently, dizziness, fatigue, abdominal pain & diarrhea. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions. Very rarely, collapse, syncope or CV arrest.

Rifampicin, other liver enzyme-inducing drugs, that are likely to prolong the QTc interval.
