Indications |
Control of hyperphosphataemia in chronic renal failure patients on haemodialysis or continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). |
Dosage |
Adult & elderly (>65 yr) Control of serum phosphate level Initially 750 mg/day. Max: 3,750 mg. Maintenance: 1,500-3,000 mg/day. |
Administration |
Should be taken with food (Take w/ or immediately after meals. Chew thoroughly before swallowing. Do not swallow whole.). |
Contraindications |
Hypophosphataemia. |
Special Precautions |
Acute peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease or bowel obstruction. Monitor serum Ca levels in patients w/ renal insufficiency. Severe hepatic impairment. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. |
Adverse Drug Reactions |
GI reactions eg abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, flatulence, nausea & vomiting. Hypocalcaemia.
