Dosage |
IV infusion RA 3 mg/kg at 0, 2 & 6 wk. Maintenance: 3-10 mg/kg 8 wkly or as often as every 4 wk. Should be given w/ methotrexate. Crohn's or Fistulizing Crohn's disease Induction: 5 mg/kg at 0, 2 & 6 wk. Maintenance: 5 mg/kg 8 wkly thereafter. Ulcerative colitis Induction: 5 mg/kg at 0, 2 & 6 wk. Maintenance: 5 mg/kg 8 wkly thereafter. Ankylosing spondylitis Induction: 5 mg/kg at 0, 2 & 6 wk. Maintenance: 5 mg/kg 6 wkly thereafter. Psoriatic arthritis/ulcerative colitis 5 mg/kg at 0, 2 & 6 wk. Maintenance: 5 mg/kg 8 wkly thereafter. Psoriasis 5 mg/kg at 0, 2 & 6 wk given over a 2-hr period. Maintenance: 5 mg/kg 8 wkly thereafter. |

Contraindications |
Moderate or severe (NYHA class III/IV) CHF. Hypersensitivity to murine proteins. Active infection. |

Special Precautions |
Chronic infection or history of recurrent infection. Mild heart failure (NYHA class I/II). Preexisting or recent onset of CNS demyelinating or seizure disorders. Discontinue if symptoms of lupus-like syndrome or hematologic abnormalities develop. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly. |

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Dyspnea, flushing, headache, rash. Resp tract infections, UTI, CHF. Pain, fatigue, fever, arthralgia, back pain.

Pregnancy Category (US FDA) |
Category B: Either animal-reproduction studies have not demonstrated a foetal risk but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women or animal-reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect (other than a decrease in fertility) that was not confirmed in controlled studies in women in the 1st trimester (and there is no evidence of a risk in later trimesters). |
