Indications |
Treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women & men at increased risk of fracture. Treatment of osteoporosis associated w/ sustained systemic glucocorticoid therapy.

Dosage |
Recommended dose: 20 mcg once daily by SC inj in thigh or abdomen. Duration of treatment should not exceed 24 mth.

Overdosage |

Contraindications |
Preexisting hypercalcemia. Severe renal impairment. Metabolic bone diseases (hyperparathyroidism & Paget's disease). Skeletal malignancies or bone metastases. Unexplained elevations of alkaline phosphatase. Prior external beam or implant radiation therapy to the skeleton. Pregnancy & lactation.

Special Precautions |
Increased serum Ca, urolithiasis, moderate renal impairment, younger adult. Women of childbearing potential should use contraception methods during therapy.

Adverse Drug Reactions |
Pain in the limb, nausea, headache, dizziness, palpitations, anaemia, sciatica, vertigo, dyspnoea, vomiting, hiatus hernia, GERD, increased sweating, muscle cramps, hypercholesterolemia, hypotension, fatigue, chest pain, asthenia, depression, mild & transient inj site events eg pain, swelling, erythema, localised bruising, pruritis & minor bleeding.

Pregnancy Category (US FDA) |
