Dosage |
Duodenal ulcer 20 mg once daily for 2-4 wk. Refractory cases: 40 mg daily for 4 wk. H. pylori eradication, associated duodenal ulcer Triple therapy regimens: Losec MUPS 20 mg, amoxicillin 1 g & clarithromycin 500 mg all bd for 1 wk or Losec MUPS 20 mg, clarithromycin 250 mg & metronidazole 400 mg all bd for 1 wk. Dual therapy regimens: Losec MUPS 40 mg once daily w/ clarithromycin 500 mg tds for 2 wk or Losec MUPS 20 mg bd w/ amoxicillin 750-1,000 mg bd for 2 wk. Gastric ulcer/reflux oesophagitis 20 mg once daily for 4-8 wk. Refractory cases 40 mg once daily for 8 wk. NSAID-associated gastric ulcers or gastric erosions, duodenal ulcers or duodenal erosions, w/ or w/o concomitant NSAID treatment 20 mg once daily for 4-8 wk. Prevention of NSAID-associated gastric ulcer, gastric erosions, duodenal ulcers, duodenal erosions or dyspeptic symptoms 20 mg once daily. Prevention of relapse in patients w/ recurrent duodenal ulcer refractory to H. pylori eradication treatment regimens, prevention of relapse in patients w/ recurrent reflux oesophagitis 10-40 mg once daily. Maintenance therapy for gastric ulcer 20-40 mg once daily. Symptomatic treatment of GERD 10-20 mg once daily. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome Initially 60 mg once daily. If >80 mg/day is required, it should be in 2 divided doses. Patients w/ impaired liver function Should not exceed 20 mg daily.

Administration |
May be taken with or without food (Swallow whole w/ at least ½ glass of fluid. Do not chew/crush. May also be dispersed in water or a slightly acidic fluid eg fruit juice. The dispersion should be taken w/in 30 min.). |

GI effects eg diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, flatulence & constipation, headache.

Pregnancy Category (US FDA) |
