Cetrorelix acetate |
Indications |
Prevention of premature ovulation in patients undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation, followed by oocyte pick-up & assisted reproduction techniques. |
Dosage |
SC inj Cetrotide 0.25 mg Administration in the morning 1 vial once daily commencing on day 5 or 6 of ovarian stimulation (approx 96-120 hr after initiation of ovarian stimulation). Administration in the evening 1 vial once daily on day 5 of ovarian stimulation (approx 96-108 hr) after initiation of ovarian stimulation. To be given w/ urinary or recombinant gonadotrophins & continued throughout gonadotrophin treatment until the evening prior to the day of ovulation induction. Cetrotide 3 mg 1 vial on day 7 of ovarian stimulation (approx 132-144 hr after start of ovarian stimulation). If follicle growth does not allow ovulation induction on the 5th day after inj, an additional 0.25 mg may be given once daily beginning 96 hr after Cetrotide 3 mg, until the day of ovulation induction. |
Contraindications |
Hypersensitivity to extrinsic peptide hormones or mannitol. Postmenopausal women, moderate & severe renal or hepatic impairment. Pregnancy, lactation. |
Special Precautions |
May give rise to ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Luteal phase support should be given where necessary. Cetrotide should be used in repeated ovarian stimulation only after careful risk/benefit eva luation. |
Adverse Drug Reactions |
Reactions at inj site, nausea, headache, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.
