Contents Per 1 g vial Sulbactam Na 500 mg, cefoperazone Na 500 mg. Per 1.5 g vial Sulbactam Na 500 mg, cefoperazone Na 1 g
Indications Upper & lower resp tract infections & UTI, peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis & other intra-abdominal infections, septicemia, meningitis, skin & soft tissue infections, bone & joint infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, gonorrhea & other genital tract infections.
Dosage Adult 2-4 g/day IV/IM in divided doses 12 hrly. Max: 4 g/day of sulbactam dose. Severe/refractory infections 8 g/day IV 12 hrly in equally divided doses. Childn 40-80 mg/kg/day 6-12 hrly in equally divided doses. Severe/refractory infections Up to 160 mg/kg/day in 2-4 equally divided doses. Neonate Max: 80 mg/kg/day of sulbactam dose.
Contraindications Known allergy to penicillins or cephalosporins.
Special Precautions Severe biliary obstruction, hepatic dysfunction & concomitant renal impairment. Patients at risk of vit K deficiency. Monitor prothrombin time. Overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD) must be considered in patients w/ diarrhea following antibiotic use. Ingestion of alcoholic beverages. Pregnancy & lactation. Premature infants & neonates.
Adverse Drug Reactions Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. Maculopapular rash, urticaria, transient eosinophilia, hypoprothrombinemia, headache, fever, inj site pain, chills, transient elevations of liver function tests.
