Per 1000 mL NaCl 6.8 g, KCl 0.3 g, MgCl2 hexahydrate 0.2 g, CaCl2 dihydrate 0.37 g, Na acetate trihydrate 3.27 g, L-malic acid 0.67 g, Na 140 mmol/L, K 4 mmol/L, Mg 1 mmol/L, Ca 2.5 mmol/L, Cl 127 mmol/L, acetate 24 mmol/L, malate 5 mmol/L |
Indications |
Replacement of extracellular fluid losses in isotonic dehydration, where acidosis is present or imminent. |
Dosage |
Adult, elderly & adolescent 500 mL to 3 L/day, corresponding to 1-6 mmol Na/kg/day & 0.03-0.17 mmol K/kg/day. Childn & infant 20-100 mL/kg/day, corresponding to 3-14 mmol Na/kg/day & 0.08-0.40 mmol K/kg/day. |
Contraindications |
Hypervolaemia; severe CHF; renal failure w/ oliguria or anuria; severe general oedema; hyperkalaemia; hypercalcaemia; metabolic alkalosis. |
Special Precautions |
Mild to moderate cardiac or pulmonary failure; mild to moderate cardiac insufficiency, peripheral or pulmonary oedema or extracellular hyperhydration, hypernatraemia, hyperchloraemia, hypertonic dehydration, HTN, impaired renal function; present or imminent eclampsia, aldosteronism or conditions or treatment associated w/ Na retention; renal or adrenocortical insufficiency, acute dehydration or extensive tissue destruction; extravasation, impaired renal function, sarcoidosis, concomitant blood transfusion; resp impairment; monitor serum electrolytes, fluid balance & pH; during long-term use nutritive supply must be given. Pregnancy & lactation. |

Febrile response, infection at the inj site, local pain or reaction, vein irritation, venous thrombosis or phlebitis.

Corticosteroids, carbenoxolone; suxamethonium, K-sparing diuretics; tacrolimus, cyclosporine; digitalis glycosides. Carbonate-, phosphate-, sulphate- or tartrate-containing medications.

Mild to moderate cardiac or pulmonary failure, peripheral or pulmonary edema or extracellular hyperhydration, hypernatremia, hyperchloremia, hypertonic dehydration, HTN, renal impairment; present or imminent eclampsia, aldosteronism or other conditions or treatment associated w/ Na retention; conditions predisposing to hyperkalemia eg renal or adrenocortical insufficiency, acute dehydration or extensive tissue destruction; extravasation, sarcoidosis, concomitant blood transfusion; resp impairment, nutritive supply for long-term treatment. Monitor serum electrolytes, fluid balance & pH. Pregnancy & lactation.
