Indications |
Control & prevention of haemorrhagic episodes in patients w/ haemophilia B (congenital factor IX deficiency or Christmas disease) including bleeding in surgical settings.

Dosage |
Individualised dosage. Minor haemorrhage (uncomplicated haemarthroses, superficial muscular or soft tissue) 20-30 IU/dL for 1-2 days. Moderate haemorrhage (intramuscle or soft tissue w/ dissection, mucous membranes, dental extractions, haematuria) 25-50 IU/dL for 2-7 days. Major haemorrhage (pharynx, retropharynx, retroperitoneum, CNS, surgery) 50-100 IU/dL for 7-10 days. All doses to be taken every 12-24 hr.

History of allergic reaction to hamster protein.

Special Precautions |
Potential risk of thrombosis & disseminated intravascular coagulation. Liver disease, post-op patients, fibrinolysis, those at risk of thromboembolic phenomena. Monitor for the development of factor IX inhibitors. Discontinue if hypersensitivity reactions occur. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.

Nausea, altered taste, dizziness, headache, cough w/ hypoxaemia, discomfort at IV site.
