Indications |
Supply of amino acids in parenteral nutrition of patients w/ severe liver insufficiency & imminent or manifest hepatic encephalopathy. |
Dosage |
IV infusion 7-10 mL/kg body wt/day up to 15 mL/kg body wt/day. |
Contraindications |
Metabolic amino acid disturbances other than of hepatic origin. Circulatory shock. Acidosis. Overhydration, hypotonic dehydration, uncorrected hypokalaemia or hyponatraemia. |
Special Precautions |
Amino acid therapy is not a substitute for established therapeutic measures in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy. Renal insufficiency. Increased serum osmolarity. |
