Dosage	IV infusion into peripheral or central vein. *Adult* 1-2 g fat/kg body wt/day at an infusion rate of 0.125 g fat/kg body wt/hr. Max infusion rate: 0.15 g fat/kg body wt/hr. *Childn* Max daily dose: 3 g fat/kg body wt. Max infusion rate: 0.15 g fat/kg body wt/hr. *Neonate & infant* Initially 0.5-1 g fat/kg body wt/day followed by successive increase of 0.5-1 g fat/kg/body wt/day up to 3 g fat/kg body wt/day. Contraindications	Hypersensitivity to fish, egg, soya or peanut protein. Severe hyperlipidemia, severe liver insufficiency, severe blood coagulation disorders, severe renal insufficiency w/o access to hemofiltration or dialysis, acute shock, acute pulmonary edema, hyperhydration, decompensated cardiac insufficiency, severe posttraumatic conditions, uncompensated DM, acute MI, stroke, embolism, metabolic acidosis, severe sepsis & hypotonic dehydration. Special Precautions	Monitor capacity to eliminate fat. Patients at risk to hyperlipidemia eg w/ high lipid dosage, severe sepsis & extremely low birth wt infants. Impaired lipid metabolism eg in renal failure, DM, pancreatitis, liver impairment, hypothyroidism & sepsis. Monitor blood glucose levels, liver function tests, acid-base metabolism, fluid balance, FBC & electrolytes. Neonates & premature neonates w/ hyperbilirubinemia & pulmonary HTN.
