PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
11.6 Lubricants and faecal softeners.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Laxative.
INDICATIONS:
For the treatment of constipation and evacuation of the lower bowel, particularly where patients have sensitive systems and where the use of oral laxatives is prohibited.
Glycerin suppositories will be found more convenient and rapid in action than enemas or oral purgatives.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Do not use unless the infant or child to be treated is, in fact, constipated.
WARNING:
KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
One to be inserted when necessary. Hold the wide base of the suppository in the fold of a cloth. Lubricate the pointed end with petroleum jelly and insert well into the rectum of the child or infant to be treated. Even though complete solution is not necessary for action, the suppository should be held for five minutes to induce a motion.
SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
There are no side effects.

Glycerin suppositories are available in jars containing 12 suppositories. Also available in a size suitable for use by adults.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store below 25°C.
