Indications for APTENSIO XR:
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Adults and Children:
Individualize. Swallow whole or may open capsule and sprinkle contents onto applesauce. <6yrs: not established. ≥6yrs: 10mg once daily in the AM. May titrate dose in weekly increments of 10mg/day. Max 60mg/day. Discontinue if no improvement after dose adjustment over a 1-month period.
Contraindications:
During or within 14 days of MAOIs.
Warnings/Precautions:
Risk of potential abuse and dependence; monitor. Avoid in known structural cardiac abnormalities, cardiomyopathy, serious arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and other cardiac problems; eva luate if chest pain, unexplained syncope, or arrhythmias develop. Monitor for hypertension and tachycardia. May exacerbate behavior disturbances, thought disorders in pre-existing psychotic disorder. Mania. Depression. Bipolar disorder. History of suicide. Risk of peripheral vasculopathy, including Raynaud's phenomenon; monitor for digital changes. Monitor growth (esp. children). Reduce dose or discontinue if paradoxical aggravation occurs. Reeva luate periodically. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers: not recommended.
Interactions:
See Contraindications. Concomitant MAOIs can cause hypertensive crisis.

Adverse Reactions:
Abdominal pain, decreased appetite, headache, insomnia, pyrexia, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia; cardiovascular events, BP/HR increase, arrhythmias, psychiatric reactions, priapism, hypersensitivity reactions.
