Headache

Inflammation of the lining of the eye, causing pain and redness (conjunctivitis)
Low red blood cell count (anaemia)
Loss of appetite
Decrease in the number of white blood cells in the blood (leucopenia)
Weakness or loss of strength (asthenia)
Decrease in the number of platelets in the blood (thrombocytopenia)
Cough
Decreased immunity to infections (immunosuppression)

How can this medicine affect other medicines?
When pentostatin is given together with another anticancer medicine called fludarabine, severe lung damage may occur which may be fatal.The combination of pentostatin and high-dose cyclophosphamide (anticancer medicine) should be avoided as the risk of toxic side effects are increased.The response of the body to immunization is reduced by cytotoxic medicines. Therefore the effectiveness of vaccines may be poor and infection may occur in patients immunized with live vaccines.
